This is a round medallion featuring many people carved in relief. At the center, two people ride on horseback, surrounded by a crowd of people in helmets holding long staff-like objects. The center portion is inscribed with the words "SENATS POPI." Surrounding this central image is a ring of other images going around the exterior of the medallion, including more people on horseback and animals such as dogs, deer, and larger bear-like creatures. The sculpture is crafted from a brown material with an aged, greenish-brown patina. Many of the details are obscured by discoloration. There is a small metal loop at the top.

Marks

On obverse, stamped at 5:00 with initials B.M. (for Baron Boissel de Monville). Reverse formerly bore previous inventory numbers P.35 (for Plaquette no. 35) in black paint (Bode/Thieme 1897/1906) and 73 in white paint (Hainauer/Duveen 1908); painted numerals removed in 1982 cleaning.
