Inscription

in lateral portions of upper field obverse, incised and both letters reversed: F / G [possibly an owner's initials; the second letter could alternatively be an unreversed P]; center reverse, incised and both letters reversed: F / g [the second letter could alternatively be an unreversed P, apparently elided with upper-case D, the D not reversed]

Marks

Reverse formerly bore previous inventory number 340 (?), presumably in white paint (unidentified collection); numerals removed during 1982 cleaning, but chemical imprint still visible. Reverse also bore 303 in yellow paint (Ricci 1931): numerals removed as above.
